Two CamerasIn addition to the iPhone camera that we've used in our previous journeys, Apogee II contains a sample of the camera that will power our future missions. The 808 camera can take in 11 hours of HD 720p footage, and is smaller than a business card. |
Additional HardwareFor the first time, we've put in some of our own circuitry. Apogee II contains a barometric pressure sensor (also functioning as an altimeter) and a temperature sensor to gather even more data along its journey. |

The FlightApogee II is the first of our experiments to be launched and retrieved on the same day. It was launched in Lancaster, California, and was retrieved about 60 miles north-west, near Bakersfield. It was also the quickest flight so far, with roughly 85 minutes of ascent and 30 minutes of descent. The onboard altimeter indicated a peak altitude of 147,000 feet. |
